Hello and welcome everybody! My name is Sam Shankland, and it seems that you have stumbled onto my website. I am currently an 18 year old high school graduate living in El Cerrito, California with 3 of my friends, and I am in the process of taking a gap year before going to College. Thus, for this year, I am a chess professional. This term, which I believe is unique to the English language, means that I do not necessarily play chess professionally, or teach it professionally, but a big combination of playing, teaching, giving lectures, writing articles, etc is the way that I earn my living. At the moment I am accepting new students and I am always looking for strong tournaments to play in.
